Heinrich N. Gerber

Gerber, Heinrich Nicolaus (Nikolaus). Studied law at Leipzig University; pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach (piano) and Kirnberger. Organist in Heringen, 1728; court organist in Sondershausen, 1731-75. Invented a keyed xylophone. Composed chorales, clavier and organ pieces. Father of Ernst Ludwig Gerber. b. Weingen-Ehrich, near Sondershausen, Germany, Sep. 6th, 1702; d. Sondershausen, Aug. 6th, 1775.
