Douglas Moore

Moore, Douglas Stuart. B.A. (Yale, 1915), Mus.B. (Yale, 1917). Studied at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, under Dr Horatio Parker (composition) and D. S. Smith; in Paris with Vincent d’Indy (composition), Charles Tournemire and Nadia Boulanger; pupil of Bloch (composition). Organist of the Museum of Art, Cleveland, Ohio, 1921; Adelbert Chapel, Western Reserve University, 1923-25. Director of music at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio; associate professor at Columbia University, New York, 1926-62. Composed theatre, orchestral and chamber music. b. Cutchogue, Long Island, New York, U.S.A., Aug. 10th, 1893; d. Greenport, New York, July 25th, 1969.
